Austin Senior Centers offer a variety of programs and services to help senior citizens maintain their independence and vitality and provide a place for seniors to have the opportunity to meet other seniors through social interaction. Programs include activities, educational opportunities, counseling and support groups, volunteer opportunities, and wellness programs.

Some Senior Centers in Austin also offer meals, help with financial and medical paperwork, transportation to and from the center, shopping trips, outings, and other social services.

The city of Austin is the cultural and economic center of the Austin–Round Rock–San Marcos metropolitan area. Due in part to it's size, the Austin metropolitan area has quite a few Senior Centers. Any senior looking to become involved at a Senior Center is sure to find one nearby that they are certain to enjoy!

The SASAC is open for seniors age 50 and above. The center is located on over 4 acres of parkland, with a community flower garden and back porch. Amenities include rooms for ceramics, billiards, exercise, meetings, arts and crafts, and cooking. Educational, recreational, and social activities and programs are offered.

Congregate Meals on Wheels Austin

Many Austin Senior Centers serve congregate meals such as breakfast and a hot nutritious lunch free or for a small donation. Senior Centers usually ask that meal reservations be made one day in advance. To reserve your congregate meal breakfast or lunch contact your local Senior Center. Senior Centers also serve as a base of operations for the popular Meals on Wheels program.
